Kampala, 07/22/2010 (SPS) The Union continue to support African efforts to resolve the conflict in Western Sahara on the basis of relevant resolutions of the Security Council and General Assembly, and the Plan of Action of Tripoli, which reiterates the commitment of Africa the holding of a referendum for self-determination to enable the people of Western Sahara to choose between independence or integration of the territory within the Kingdom of Morocco, said Thursday in Kampala, the African Union.
The report of the Commission President, Mr. Jean Ping, the 15th Conference of Heads of State and Government Summit, which was adopted by the executive board also noted that "the African Union will continue its consultations with the secretariat of the UN and other actors on the basis of guidelines contained in the Plan of Action of Tripoli. "
The report also observes that "the continued stalemate is located in the peace process in Western Sahara is still showing no signs of hope, despite the efforts of the Personal Envoy of the Secretary General of the United Nations for Western Sahara, Ambassador Christopher Ross. "
In this context, he recalled that the Secretary General of the UN has "welcomed the commitment of the parties, the Frente Polisario and the Kingdom of Morocco to continue the process of informal talks held tight in preparation for the fifth round of negotiations, and invited them to continue negotiations under the auspices of the Secretary-General, without preconditions, to achieve a just political solution, acceptable and sustainable for all, which will achieve self-determination of Western Sahara. Kampala (Uganda), 07/24/2010 (SPS) The President of the Republic, SG Polisario, Mohamed Abdelaziz arrived Saturday morning to Kampala to participate alongside their peers in the work of the 15th African summit African Union (AU), which opens Sunday, officials said a source close to the presidential delegation.
On his arrival at Entebbe International Airport (Uganda), President of the Republic, Mohamed Abdelaziz was received by senior officials and managers, headed by Dr. Crispus Kiyonga Kiyonga, Minister of Defence Government of Uganda.
After greeting Ugandan military units had arrived to render honors, Mr. Abdelaziz has led to the VIP lounge where he held talks with Ugandan officials. The discussed were related to bilateral relations between the two countries, the Saharawi Republic and the Republic of Uganda, especially the important issues and topics to be raised at the summit of Heads of State and Government.
The 15th AU summit will last three days under the theme "Maternal, newborn and child health and development in Africa" in addition to other points in particular to consider the report of the Commissioner of the African Union Mr. Jean Ping.
Mr. Ping stressed in his report to the Union's commitment to supporting African efforts to resolve the conflict in Western Sahara on the basis of relevant resolutions of the Council Security and the General Assembly, and the Plan of Action of Tripoli, which reiterates the commitment of Africa to hold a referendum on self-determination to allow the people of Western Sahara to choose between independence territory or its integration into the kingdom of Morocco.
The president is accompanied by a large delegation comprising Mohamed Salem Ould Salek, foreign minister, Fatima Mahdi, Secretary General of the National Union of Saharawi Women, Sidi Mohamed Omar, Ambassador to Addis Ababa and with AU Habib Bou Kris, Ambassador Uganda, Ambassador Ahmed Hamad Yahya Abdati Breika, Adviser to the President of the Republic and the Al-Umar, chief advisor to the Saharawi Embassy in Uganda.
